The Fountain Inn is one of Chichester's oldest City Centre pubs. Its history can truly claim to be ancient, with part of the original Roman South Wall (circa 200AD) running through the spacious restaurant. More recently, the inn was run by the family of the writer HG Wells!
Situated close the town Cross, the friendly atmosphere and warm, rustic feel to the two bars combine to make The Fountain Inn an ideal spot for family lunches or a relaxing stop for the real ale aficionado.
If you're hungry, our restaurant will serve you a great menu of traditional English fare including one of the best Sunday roasts you'll ever enjoy. Children are welcome in the restaurant with a menu to cater for all ages and tastes.
Open Air Courtyard
The open-air courtyard has plenty of space for the kids and is a quiet spot to take your drinks on a sunny afternoon while you watch the world go by.
Live Music & Entertainment
Live music is a central feature of The Fountain and it's no idle boast to say we are the City's leading venue featuring the best local talent plus genuinely fine artists from all over the world. If you enjoy live music, then Fridays and Saturdays feature some excellent sounds from high quality acts spanning rock to folk, from blues to Irish. You are advised to arrive early, especially on Saturdays, because it can and does get competitive for a seat near the band!
Quiz Nights are held every Thursday and Sunday from 9pm. Thursday is our Blockbuster Style quiz, while on Sunday we have a Media & Music quiz.
Free Internet Access
We are pleased to offer our customers free internet access. Come in and surf the internet, catch up on emails or even check the online prices of items you've seen in the shops so you can go back and haggle! There are no limits on how long you can go online and our service is free from those annoying advertisements you might have encountered in other places. For more information, just ask at the bar.
Function & Meeting Rooms
The pub boast two rooms available for private functions and meetings. The main function room can cater for 40 people. The smaller function room is suitable for groups or meetings of up to 10 people. We do not charge a hire fee for either room, but will provide a hot or cold food at the table or as a buffet. Please contact us for more details.
